You remember my cat, Mimi, right? Well, tomorrow is her birthday. She’s turning 3! Imagine that! Can’t believe we’ve already had her that long. Well, we talked over lunch what we would do for this very special day. Well, it may not be that special for her, except that we usually get her a little special meat pate that she loves, but it is really extra special for us because it’s the day we’re celebrating her into the world and if she wasn’t here how sad we would be. She’s the most beautiful cat and we love her so much and… Well, and we’ll find any occasion (or excuse) to party, heehee.
Last year Brother got her a book about “patience”. She needed that. She would meow and meow for her food an hour or 2 before it was even feeding time. I got her a book on “sharing” because well, she’s the boss, we all know that but she had to learn to share the house a little with us humans too. Now, she’s gotten a bit better at that. I guess those stories did work after all.
About couches and beds, she knows they aren’t for her, except she can go on Brother’s and my beds cause we don’t mind. And we usually fight who’s bed she will get to sleep on each night. She’s the boss and she decides that! But she’ll usually take turns which is kinda nice for us.
Anyway, back to Mimi’s birthday plan… I really have no idea of what to get her this year. A new bed basket? (though she has one) A cat scratcher? (she never used the one she had) A cat toy? (she barely even plays with them anymore.) Any ideas? Please help! Who else is crazy enough to plan a pet party? Anyone out there? Or is it just me and our crazy family? I guess we’ll soon find out.
More here about our family night activities, because it’s the best thing of all! Some of our favorite activities so far have been: Crazy relays by Dad, a food hike by Mom (I’ll tell you more about that one later.) My balloon and drawing activities. We tell or read jokes, share real life stories in a made up sheet tent, we had trampoline games outdoors, picnic in nature, treasure hunts, hide and seek around the house, cooking contest (Mom did that one so that she didn’t have to come up with a snack beforehand. Kind of cheating in my opinion), a walk to the store to choose our dessert together. Not a good idea because we couldn’t make up our mind on which ice-cream flavor to get. (It was my idea, heehee.) Board games, trying out Dad and Mom’s made-up games that sometimes work and sometimes don’t. We kind of help out with suggestions sometimes. I guess that could mean we create games together during our activity nights. And then we even have Brother’s games that always include some type of music or song writing, anything as long as there’s some music playing in the background or the game includes music somehow.
Oh boy, the list could get quite a bit longer but anyway, you get the idea. To sum it all up in one word it’s FUN!!! Family-United-Night! Or as I like to say “Family-Upside down-Night” because that’s when our other side comes out, our kind of crazy and silly side, really fun side. Especially Mom, you’d never guess she could make a silly face or dance like a duck. Dad at least sneaks out a little of that side once in a while when he has Daddy time with us. And the funniest is when Dad puts on an accent from another country and makes us all roll on the floor. Mom sometimes ends up in tears, from laughing so hard. We had to close the curtains the last time we did that, as some neighbor looking in would not understand what was going on. He might have thought we were meant to be in a crazy house or something.
Today was my birthday! Yay! But nay for the longest school day of the week. Looking on the bright side, as that’s what I’ve been taught, it happened to fall on a Friday this year, the night of our family activity. Yay again! Now what could be better than that?
If you don’t know what our family nights are like, well… too bad. But all I can say is that you’re missing out. I’ll have to tell you about it one day, but for now, for today, it’s my birthday and that’s all you’re going to hear about. A nice big bowl of cereal to start out the day, with yogurt and cut up fruits into it, just how I like it and best of all, Mom made it for me. Usually I never know what to eat for breakfast so sometimes I just skip it. But I do get a feeling of starvation and sometimes pain when my tummy tells me it’s hungry but I have to tell it to sit still in class for another 2 hours. No fun. But not today!
Mom filled my bowl with all those things she knows I like. Thanks Mom! Then for lunch, she changed the menu to chicken instead of fish which is what we usually have on Friday. But she knows it’s not my favorite. A double thanks, Mom! Back to school after lunch and then home 3 hours later. Mom took me out for a snack I could choose and then we did some drawing together. Triple thanks, Mom. She took every moment while I was at home to spend it with me. That was almost as good as having a friend over.
But I could hardly wait for family night, this time prepared by Dad. Pizza dinner then some of my favorite desserts, home made banana ice-cream and coco chipped cookies. “Please make those again!” I told Mom. Fun games and relays, dress up races, balloons, laughs, dancing, jokes and stories from when we were younger. What could be funner? Quadrillion thanks, Dad! “Can we celebrate my birthday all over again next week? Since it’s my turn to plan family night, I get to choose what I want, right?” I asked. “It’s all yours!” they said. I do like the attention on ME, though I don’t know if all those games will be as fun if I lead them. I’ll see how I feel after turning 11 years and 1 week. We ended the evening by watching videos of each September month since I was born. I think it’s God’s turn to be thanked, for amazing family memories I’ll never forget!
