It’s the season to be jolly

Sing with me! It’s the season to be jolly! Falalalala lalalala! I just love our family evenings and especially during Christmas season. There are candles, lights and decors all over. So when the evening gets a little bore, I just focus on a decoration and it can take me to wonderful places. Well, I just think about how beautiful it would look in my room, haha.

Well, this evening for family night we had a made-up game, made up by Brother. Those can get a little carried away sometimes, well, mostly because he’s so into music. His made-up games or activities can’t be without some type of music game or music hearing, music making, music inventing, whatever have you. So we had to roll this wheel thing with different letters, while listening to music of course. Each letter led us to a paper that gave us instructions of what to do. His instructions to us went like this…. Make up a song. Sing a Christmas song. Pretend to cry until your next turn. Make everyone laugh. Make a silly face. Write a 4-lined Christmas poem. Write down your Christmas wish. Make everyone guess your favorite song. Do a crazy dance…etc. There are too many to name them all here, but you get the idea.

Mom had to do a dance but she was a little shy. As soon as Dad and Brother took a toilet break, she did her dance. I filmed her and have been able to tease her about it ever since. She couldn’t exactly hide from Dad and Brother either, cause I had it on camera, hee, hee. Now every time I want her to let me do something, I remind her of her crazy dance that I could broadcast (of course, only to the rest of our family). Well, actually I tried that out once and it didn’t work too well because, well, she had plenty of videos of me doing things that I didn’t really want shown all over the place, even just to family.

I guess she had a point there. It’s okay to have fun and tease a little. But there is a time and place for everything. One evening of craziness is great. It’s even good to laugh, play and have fun. It helps us get out of ourselves too. But it’s not to take out at other times or other places or with other people. I wouldn’t like that done to me. That reminds me of the verse “Whatever you want someone to do to you, do the same to them.” It’s pretty smart fitting, if I may say so myself. I’ll think of that the next time I do a crazy thing, hee.

And then we ended our evening watching some “funny videos” of animals and people getting surprised or falling and all that stuff. Some were really hilarious and we had such a good laugh. But some others were just sad, to realize that people actually got hurt from those situations. Well, all I can say is that there is a time to laugh and also a time to cry.

Christmas is a time to be joyful and happy, but I know that there are also some people who are missing loved ones and hurting real bad during this time. God, please help me to be sad with them and bring them some love and comfort.
